DESCRIPTION
CuteClip 3 is the perfect companion for Mac OS X's native clipboard. It integrates perfect with the look of Mac OS X and completely stays out of the user's way. CuteClips sits in the background and continuously records changes to the clipboard in order to provide access to them when the user needs it. CuteClips 3 is a complete rewrite, which we used to focus on what's most important: simplicity. The simple but highly efficient user interface allows the user to quickly find the clip that he/she is looking for. This is achieved providing a textual list of all clips for a perfect overview in addition to a huge preview for a detailed view of a clip.
To activate CuteClips 3 the user can either use the the menu item or the HotKey, which defaults to Command-Shift-V, the shortcut for pasting but with a pressed shift key. CuteClips can either be controlled by mouse, but also via keyboard, which makes it useful also for seasoned users who prefer speed and efficient usability.
To prevent clips from being automatically deleted, the user can make clips sticky or assign shortcuts to them. With these shortcuts the clips can be pasted without even searching for them. The user just needs to activate CuteClips and hit the shortcut key and its clip is pasted instantly. Some more advanced features in CuteClips are the ability to paste any clip as plain text, paste multiple clips in a row or paste only parts of a clip.

TOM KIRSHBAUM Love the program, but I must be missing something. I had a couple of private clips. Pressed cmd-delete to eliminate all clips. It worked. My clips disappeared. So did the instructions because they are clips too. I reinstalled. Instructions still gone. Removed file, downloaded again, reinstalled. Instructions still gone. How do I get the instructions back? How do I remove all _my_ clips without losing the instructions? Tom Kirshbaum

TIM27 A great program, but an option to delete all clips at once would be welcome, unless I haven't found that feature?

To access the preferences, please click on the i-Button in the top right corner of this window." But there is no i being displayed there on my Mac like it is in the screenshot - so no way for me to enter my registration number (I got it as part of a bundle)

ROBOTANK Strange. The top of the CuteClips window should darken when you mouse over it, and you can use it like a standard window title bar to move the window. The "i" should be on the right side of this bar. Are you sure you haven't accidentally moved or expanded the window off of your screen?

VERYVITO I've been using CuteClips for some time now, and have come to rely on it. It's rock solid, simple and stays out of the way until I need it (I've tried several similar apps, and just like the way CuteClips fits into my workflow). I had my first "issue" with it today (It turned out the problem was with my file system and had nothing to do with CuteClips itself), and was pleasantly surprised by the quick response from the developer, too -- adding great support to a great product.

FREDSMITH Okay, it doesn't do quite as much as the competition but it also doesn't hog memory, crash, lose your clips or get left for years without an update. The simple window blends nicely (almost invisibly) with the rest of the UI, so you don't get that 'jarring' feeling you get when some of these so-called 'utilities' take over your whole environment. Having said that, the previews are certainly large enough to see what your about to paste (very important for us oldies with poor eyesight). As well as being very keyboard friendly, the developer has also included some nice usability touches: it comes up with the second item selected rather than the first. This seems a little bit weird at first, but if you wanted the first item on the clipboard, then the chances are you'll just hit command-v without even thinking about it. Best of all, the developer responds quickly and politely to bug reports and feature requests. Recommend that you give it a try before shelling out for something more expensive, less well supported and heavy on the memory use. You may find that the smaller feature set is all you really need.

MC_SHIZZEL Excellent app, it just works and I've never experienced any crashes. Although there seems to be one small issue with clearing the clipboards, I can never clear all my clipboards one always remains till I add another clipboard in which case I can delete the previous clipboard but am left with another clipboard which won't go away till I add something else to another clipboard. Even with that small problem this app is good enough for 5 stars.

RAPIDLY WOVEN I've tried both the cmd+Q and quitting through the preference panel. Neither one actually quit the app as a quick squeeze of the mighty mouse and the app pops up. If this app was actually quit, this would not happen... the squeeze would result in nothing.

KARSTEN@BRIKSOFTWARE.COM I understand, it really seems that CuteClips doesn't quit. However, the squeeze action is set so that it launches CuteClips. If CuteClips is already running and you squeeze, this will only activate CuteClips as if you would have pressed the hotkey. You can open Activity Manager and see that quitting CuteClips actually quits it. You should also see that the menu item disappears. It should be back when you squeeze. | |
